Collaborative Project

For the second project of the year, we were tasked with working together as a group to create our outcomes. The brief was to choose a charity to work with that we could create outcomes for. We chose the Realise charity, who help people around the community in North Staffordshire with skills, jobs and health. We decided to work with the elderly community that Realise help (who lived in some of the retirement flats) and we held a series of workshops where they would be the subject of our photographs and we would ask them questions to help inspire our own photographs. Week one was to find out a little bit about them, week two was to take their portraits and photograph them with an object that meant something to them and week three was asking them five questions; what makes them happy, what makes them sad, their favourite memory, what their favourite part of nature is and favourite hobby. From these five questions, we were able to go out and interpret them, taking photos and displaying them next to their portraits at exhibition. The project was a huge success and we learnt a lot about the lives of some of the residents.
